Classes and Group Lessons, Spring 2020

Preparing for the SAT?

Need to prepare for your upcoming SAT? Join us this spring and get a leg up on your upcoming test. We will meet weekly throughout the spring semester to cover the most important content and strategies that you'll need to ace your test in a friendly, small group setting. We will meet in Round Rock at a local coffee shop called Cuppa Austin (near Parmer and 620). We have a few spots left! Contact me for more details or see below to register.

Core Principles - The Four Pillars

By practicing the Four Pillars of Successful Learning, students will work on the fundamental skills and knowledge required to get a great score on the SAT and succeed in higher learning settings. The Four Pillars are:

  1. Make a study plan and set a specific, measurable goal. Create a reasonable, measurable, and time-bound goal and then make detailed plans to attain that goal.
  2. Obtain and then practice with high-quality study materials. Acquire a physical copy of the Official SAT Study Guide, or sign in Khan academy for the same official practice materials.
  3. Develop a sufficient set of optimal study habits and methods. Find some study methods that will work for you.
  4. Sustain a directed effort over a long period of time. Make learning a habit, and study for the SAT for at least 12 hours (outside of any other coursework or prep classes).

Be sure to check out my article, How to Study for the SAT for more detailed explanations on the Four Pillars of Successful Learning.

How it Works

SAT prep courses are ongoing and new students are accepted anytime. When you register for SAT prep, you will be asked to fill out the Registration Form and submit any previous SAT or PSAT scores. Based on the information provided - including the students needs, skills, past test scores, and problem areas - an individualized learning plan will be created. The schedule is flexible, and students may attend one or multiple sessions each week.

SAT lesson Class Packs are $225 for four lessons, $300 for six lessons, or $400 for eight lessons. I typically recommend at least six lessons to see an increase in score, which is why I charge a little extra for the package of four lessons.

When you register for SAT Prep, you will be asked to select your preferred day/time to attend tutoring. I will try my best to accomodate everyone's schedule, and I have several scheduling options available. The currently available scheduling options are:

Day Time
Mondays 7:30-8:50pm
Wednesdays 6:30-7:50pm
Saturdays 12:00-1:20pm

How to Register

Step 1 - Application

Registration is easy. If you'd like to sign up for SAT preparation, please fill out the Spring 2020 SAT Prep Application Form. You will be notified within 3 business days if your application has been approved.

Step 2 - Payment

Once your application has been approved, you can submit your payment via PayPal here. I can also accept Venmo, cash, check, and BitCoin. Please note: if you pay for a Class Pack via PayPal and then request a refund, a returned payment fee will be applied (this is because PayPal charges a non-refundable transaction fee).

Step 3 - Send Previous SAT/PSAT Scores (Optional)

Once your payment has been submitted, please send me any previous SAT/PSAT Score Reports that you have received. This is optional, but very helpful for me in the assessment of students strengths and weaknesses and creating an individualized learning plan. To upload scores, use this form.
